I’ve mentioned that I started painting with just abstracts but that was ultimately a wee bit restrictive. Sometimes I just found an abstract starting to look somewhat realistic and went with it (See: Fire Pit). Other times serendipity played a major role like in the Blue Nude. A few were designed as representational like the Bathers, a piece indebted to Jean Dubuffet, or Paris Park which plays on a photo that is the cover of a Pema Chödrön meditation guide.
